Description : If you are looking for an alternative to the installed audio editing packages, this offer from Internet Co may interest you …
When it comes to audio editing software, most well-known solutions have been around for many years and are very mature applications. The same can be said about Sound It!, Released by Japanese developers Internet Co Ltd, but, most likely, now it is less known to Western studios. Could this change with version 8? The new version has been customized for the English market, and the company clearly intends to expand its product coverage.
On paper, the feature set looks promising, and with an impressive set of plug-ins and an intriguing option to support native DXD / DSD sound (with suitable audio equipment), it has features that may well appeal to both new and audio editing and those working in more niche, high precision environments.

SI8P has a solid set of basic audio editing features. These include typical file editing options, audio format conversion, a wide range of plug-ins (covering the equalizer, dynamics, spatial effects, modulation and processing methods), basic automation, useful measurement tools, batch processing, well-thought-out creation of CDs, the ability to create files Acid and, as mentioned earlier, support for processing DSD files and PCM (DXD) files with high resolution. Exactly what you can do with these more professional audio formats depends on the specification of any audio interface that you may have available, but nonetheless DSD support is rare among major audio editors.
The SI8P’s graphical user interface is pretty arbitrary, with a main menu and toolbar bars that provide easy access to many key file management and editing tools. The display is based on transport controls, which include a wheel and four additional buttons for accessing effects, a mixer, a timer for creating synchronized audio recordings and a media browser. All these functions are kept compact enough so that the center of the display can place floating windows for your open audio files.
All in all, Sound It! 8 Pro is a very competent audio editing environment for mono and stereo audio, with a good set of editing functions for most common editing tasks, as well as useful (and convenient) CD burning capabilities and an impressive array of plug-ins. In terms of competition, the SI8P is somewhere between Wavelab Elements and Sound Forge Pro, both in price and performance. This may mean that it occupies a clear niche in the current market.
